Silicon Valley based CarBahn Motorsports is back for the 2019 IMSA Michelle Pilot Challenge, and BACK it is. As we say bye to 2018, 2019 is lookin’ like a promising year for CarBahn. Under the leadership of Team Principal Engineer Steve Dinan, it’s feeling like CarBahn Motorsports may just have their best season yet.

As fruitful as the Daytona testing has been, the real test is coming up in just less than a week at the Rolex 24 to really put the breakneck #39 Audi R8 LMS GT4’s to its run.

Maintaining its livery are seasoned veteran drivers Jeff Westphal and Tyler McQuarrie combined achieving multiple wins across a wide variety of series. Tyler McQuarrie has been racing for over 25 years and has competed in multiple series including: IMSA, American Le Mans, Formula Drift and off-road in trophy trucks.

Jeff began racing in the Jim Russell Racing School of Infineon Raceway in 2006, finishing in the top five in 14 of his 17 races in his rookie season. Jeff has competed in the F2000 Championship setting the win record for the series with PR1 Motorsports, won Grand Am Rolex Races, Redline & Global Time Attack Championships Unlimited class for GST Motorsport (9 track records), as well as wins in IMSA Weathertech championship and abroad in Germany's GT3 championship VLN. Jeff was also the first (and only) American driver to qualify on the pole for the 24HRs of Nurburgring.

“Last year we were under the gun with a new car, learning through a fire hose but still managed front running pace.  This year we have a car we are familiar with, so I am looking forward to the familiarity and all the calm that brings to the program,” says Westphal.

He continues to race with SCG003c in GT3, Peregrine Racing and Rearden Racing in GT4, as well as Global Time Attack.

Team Principal Engineer Steve Dinan is a virtuoso to motorsport winning many racing championships including 2, 24hrs of Daytona with Chip Ganassi racing (2011, 2013) and 3 prototype championships with Ganassi racing (2010,2011,2012). After founding Dinan Engineering in 1979, Dinan became the only approved supplier for BMW high performance engines and parts.

Steve has now started a new company and is now President of CarBahn AutoWorks, tuning and developing BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, and Audi. “We have always used Motorsports to prove our technical expertise. We take great pride in making the fastest street legal high-performance cars,” says Dinan.

This year CarBahn is Launching new products for Mercedes AMG and BMW M models. 2019 high performance street cars include: C63 AMG Coupe and sedan, BMW M4, BMW F90 M5 and a 991 911 turbo S.

“From the all beautifully orchestrated noises of high performance vehicle testing you could really feel that race adrenaline glowing from every corner of the CarBahn Shop.”

CarBahn Motorsports continues to prove with the right partners on deck this will surely be another successful season with an amazing team.

As competitive as the Michelle Pilot Challenge is, Dinan and the CarBahn Team are more prepped than ever. See you on the Track!
