Nolasport Press Release: Daytona

Nolasport Jon Scheurich:

IMSA has always been a place we have looked toward from a distance as a “one day we will get there” mindset. We ordered  two 2019 Porsche 718 GT4’s with delivery in time  to run both at the Daytona Roar in January.  This was an easy choice for us with our history and passion for racing Porsches along with the great support we receive from Porsche Motorsport. We have had great success with the prior generation Cayman GT4 and I’m really pleased with the new car and  what Porsche has done to improve it.  It is exciting to be making a few IMSA GS starts in 2019 with Vess Energy drivers Mike Vess, Matt Travis,  and Jason Hart starting with the Daytona and Sebring race weekends.  Our hope is to activate the 2nd car at some point and also see if we can get Jason a teammate for the remainder of the season. I am beyond happy with what our team has accomplished in such a short time and can’t thank my guys and our drivers enough for all they do.

Mike Vess:

After doing a few races with the Nolasport team over the past few years I have enjoyed their professional measured thorough approach on and off track. The Porsche Cayman GT4 is a pleasure to drive and just feels right to me with its precise handling and strong braking capability. Going into 2019 it was natural for me to be in the new Porsche Cayman GT4 with Nolasport, I have a lot of trust in both of these organizations and their capabilities. My schedule only allows for a few IMSA GS races in 2019 so that is what we will do and I am really excited to be on Michelin tires. Jason Hart has certainly become more of a friend than just my coach/co-driver. I appreciate his ability to feel what the car is doing and translate it to Nolasport’s engineer which always provides me a car that is fast, comfortable and confident on track. I would also like to thank my family for supporting me in this sport that I enjoy so much.

Matt Travis:

After completing the 2 Sunday sessions of the ROAR I feel comfortable with the new 2019 Porsche Cayman GT4 MR. Nolasport has once again delivered with a great setup after working on the car Fri and Sat allowing me to gain confidence right away. Racing with Mike and Jason is always a great time, I am fortunate to be joining this program for IMSA Daytona 4hr GS race surrounded by a capable group I consider to be my friends. What a great way to kick off 2019…I can’t wait!!!

Jason Hart:

Jon Scheurich and the Nolasport team have become a second family for me and I feel blessed every day to be part of their organization. My feelings are the same for Mike Vess, the Vess Family and Vess Energy Group who continue to support he and I racing together. Moving into 2019 with Mike, Nolasport, Porsche, Michelin and IMSA is no doubt going to be an extremely special time in my life being surrounded and supported by so many great folks. I don’t hide the fact that I really like the Porsche Cayman GT4 and I look forward to getting to know the new 2019 Porsche Cayman GT4. It looks like Porsche Motorsport has added some nice upgrades over the prior model in all the right areas. Racing in IMSA GS always proves to be mega competitive and that is why we want to be there!

Kyle Millikin:

It has been great to see Nolasport grow and accomplish so much since they started racing the  first Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport in 2016. They began their program with an open book they still operate with today. You can see its effect. Jason Hart has been there from the start and the knowledge gained by having a pro in house racing, coaching and testing has transferred seamlessly to their drivers who are all known for running up front. The relationship between Nolasport and Porsche Motorsport is very healthy and we look forward to working and winning together  as Nolasport takes on their first Pro Championship Campaign.
