CRG - I Do Borrow Pre-Watkins Glen Report

Thursday, June 30, 2016

Coming off their recent announcement that the team will be entering a Nissan Altima Coupe for the balance of the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge season, the CRG-I Do Borrow team embarks on their first race with their new machine.  The team will enter the gates of the famed Watkins Glen International Raceway for round 4 of the season confident the new addition will only bolster what has been a strong season to date.

CRG and drivers Sarah Cattaneo and Owen Trinkler are currently fifth in Team and Drivers’ Street Tuner (ST) Class Championship Points standings respectfully, which includes a win at Sebring International Raceway in March.  The car, albeit new to the team, will retain the teams’ popular pink and black livery with sponsors I Do Borrow and A&C Properties adorned throughout.

“I’m very excited to be part of the Nissan family.  It’s a great opportunity for us as a team, and I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for us.”  Cattaneo continues, “The time I’ve had in the car has been very positive, and I look forward to the debut at Watkins Glen and see how it shakes out against the great competition in the Continental Tire Challenge Series.”

Trinkler, a long time veteran of the series, has a renewed level of excitement as though he’s running for the first time.  “I’m really looking forward to getting started at Watkins Glen with the new car.  Sarah and I have really liked it in testing, and I think this now will give us the opportunity to bring the fight to our competition.  We’re the only ones running the Nissan, so we’re on an island, but being a small one-car team, we’re used to that.  We know our destiny is in our hands as we fight against the larger teams towards the championship” states Owen.

The Continental Tire 150 at The Glen kicks off with the first practice session on Thursday, June 30th at 3:00 pm EDT.  The race will drop the green flag on Saturday, July 2nd at 12:25 pm EDT.  The race can be viewed live on and via tape delayed broadcast on Fox Sports 1 on July 10th, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. EDT.
