RS1 #17 Gets a Makeover

Tuesday, June 27, 2017

2016 Street Tuner season champions and current season's first place RS1’s #17 Porsche, driven by Nick Galante and Spencer Pumpelly, have rebadged their car. The new look will debut at Watkins Glen for The Continental Tire 120.

Legistics, the team’s principal sponsor, and golfer Rickie Fowler, an associate sponsor, are partnering with RS1 to get the message out in support of the fight against Alzheimer's disease. A purple sash that reads “Racing to End Alzheimer's” runs down both sides of the #17 and adds to its new look.

Phil Frengs, Legistics' founder and its CEO notes, "Alzheimer's disease is a reality in more than 5 million American homes, affecting men and women as early as their fifties, and many more in their sixties, seventies and eighties.  Its impact is felt not just by those who suffer from it themselves, but by the family members and loved ones of those who have Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia."

Now Justin Bellinzoni, RS1's team owner has embraced the cause. Drivers Nick Galante and Spencer Pumpelly are enthusiastically Racing to Ends Alzheimer's.

Rickie Fowler has recommitted his support to the RS1 team and his image is sharing the #17 hood with his social media addresses and the URL.

In an effort to raise more than just awareness of Alzheimer's, the team is going to do the unusual. They will replace the corporate logos of our sponsors with the names of moms, dads, sisters, brothers, grandfathers and grandmothers who are suffering or have suffered with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia. A donation of $250 to the Racing to End Alzheimer's Foundation will secure the name of your loved-one and their home city be displayed on the car in a tribute the them and to the people who care about them. Frengs added, "Honoring our family and friends this way also gives us the opportunity to raise significant funds for Alzheimer's research and services.”

The names of hundreds of Alzheimer’s victims in white letters on a black background will be the livery for #17 at the Continental Tire Monterey Grand Prix powered by Mazda at Laguna Seca on Saturday, September 23.
