TeamTGM Takes Winning Momentum to Road America

Friday, August 2, 2019

Coming off a big return to victory lane at Lime Rock Park a few weeks ago, TeamTGM is looking forward to using that momentum as it heads to Road America for the Road America 120 this Saturday ( 5:05pm ET).

TeamTGM drivers Hugh Plumb and Owen Trinkler took their No. 46 Jayne Koskinas Ted Giovanis (JKTG) Foundation / Camp Boggy Creek Mercedes-AMG GT4 to victory lane at Lime Rock Park to back up their 2018 victory at the track with TeamTGM. Having claimed the first ever win for the model in 2018, the team now has four victories for Mercedes-AMG’s North American GT4 program.

That wave of momentum will be utilized to master the lengthy 4.0-mile course at Road America. Scoring a third place result for TeamTGM last season as well as a second place Road America finish in 2015, Trinkler has high hopes for the race this weekend.

“Road America is a great track that has all types of corners,” said Trinkler. “We got the first win of the season off our backs and I think that gave us all the confidence boost that we needed heading into Road America. I think the Mercedes-AMG should perform well there and I know the TGM guys will help us get back into contention this weekend.”

Similarly, Plumb’s experience includes a big win in 2015 after starting on the outside pole.

“After a much needed win at Lime Rock we are looking to back it up at Road America,” said Plumb. “ I love going to Road America, the competition is strong but TGM is as hungry as ever!”

The No. 4 / Camp Boggy Creek Mercedes-AMG GT4 of Ted Giovanis and Guy Cosmo have had a solid season so far, scoring their best qualifying start to date at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park and best finish of 11th at Watkins Glen International.

Road America also marks the return of the duo to the site of their first IMSA outing together in 2016 where they came home third at the high speed Wisconsin circuit.

“Road America is a track I’m learning to love because of its many high speed areas,” said Giovanis. “It should be a great track for the Mercedes-AMG but we’ll need to carry momentum onto the straights to get it down. It should be a great race.”

Cosmo will be aiming to add to his lengthy resume of starts at Road America this weekend and score his first win at the circuit.

“Road America is one of my all-time favorite tracks,” said Cosmo. “It’s also a place where we typically perform very well, so we have high hopes going into this round that Ted and I will have our best finish of the year. I truly feel a podium is possible for us and we are going for it with everything we’ve got."

The Road America 120 weekend will start off with practice on Friday with qualifying on Saturday morning (12pm ET with an expected green flag start time on Saturday at 5:05pm ET (
