KMW and TMR Convoy of Hope Partnership

Just one week ago today, the teams at KMW Motorsports and TMR Engineering were frantically preparing our 2 Alfa Romeo Gulietta TCR’s for the IMSA (International Motorsports Association) Michelin Pilot Challenge races at Laguna Seca.  While we had just been narrowly missed by Hurricane Dorian, our close neighbors in the Bahamas had been completely devastated in a way that these islands had never seen before.

The Bahamas is a tropical paradise just 60 miles offshore from the State of Florida and extends on to hundreds of islands of all sizes that millions of tourists visit and fall in love with each year. The Bahamas is an independent nation and is home to about 400,000 people.  Their economy is based largely on tourism, but what many don’t know, is that the Bahamas is home to one of the largest oil refineries in this hemisphere.  An incredible amount of oil, even oil used by the racing community, stops in the Bahamas before it reaches its destination.

Our brothers and sisters in the Bahamas are in trouble, and they need our help.  Their homes have been destroyed, their infrastructure has disappeared, and we have yet to know the full extent and complexity of damage that has been done by Hurricane Dorian.   While we all wish restoration of the beloved Bahamas was as simple as restoring utilities and delivering food, water, and other resources with cars and trucks, we are forced to remember the reality that these are islands.  The islands that make up the Bahamas can only be accessed by air and sea, making restoration that much more difficult.  The lack of access to food and clean water has made this disaster even more critical.  This is truly a matter of life and death and rebuilding the Bahamas will take years.

It has been incredible to see the outpouring of support and help from local communities in the United States and around the world. Please help us do even more.

KMW and TMR, with the help of Tim Lewis Jr. (driver of the #5 Alfa Romeo), have partnered with Convoy of Hope; an incredible organization that has been dedicated to feeding people in need around the world for over 25 years.  To show our support for our friends in the Bahamas, Mimessi Auto Design owner, Luciano Mimessi (Boca Raton, Florida), graciously donated the artwork and materials for us to replace our team colors on our cars with the colors of the Bahamian flag, and make it easy to donate to Convoy of Hope.

We are humbly asking everyone to take a moment to see the incredible work that Convoy of Hope is doing in the Bahamas, and text “ALFA” to 68828 to make a contribution.  Every dollar really does matter, and there is no contribution too small. We have received a pledge to match dollar-for-dollar every penny raised, up to $5,000, and we are confident that with the help of our racing community, we will make a huge difference in the lives of the hundreds of thousands of people in the Bahamas devastated by Hurricane Dorian.

KMW Motorsports and TMR Engineering thank you in advance for your generosity and look forward to seeing you on September 14th.
