Series champion finishes season with a win at Road Atlanta

BRASELTON, GEORGIA – Newly crowned Porsche GT3 Cup USA Champion Jesse Lazare put an exclamation point at the end of his season by winning the last race of the year this past weekend at Road Atlanta.

“It was a great way to end the season,” said Lazare, who led from flag to flag to take the win. “I really wanted to win the last one of the year to do this for Jeff Stone’s 50th birthday and for his wife, Ekram, who is going through a lot. I really love her. I’m excited to hopefully keep going for next year.”

Lazare had a dominating year, winning 12 of the 16 races.

“The last four races were really the toughest. I really liked the extra competition the other Canadians brought to the races – it was fun!”

The celebration continued at the year-end banquet, and Lazare’s speech was spot on.

“This is not just for me, but for all my supporters this year. I have so much to be thankful for both on and off the track., Garaga, Olymbec, Kart-o-Mania,, TNR Doors, Micanan, Prestige Porsche and of course my team Kelly Moss Road and Race had faith in me to get this done, and in truth it wasn’t just me, it was all of us. ... This is a championship we can all be proud of.

“Sponsors, supporters and your family all have ups and downs like we did on the track this year, but all of my sponsors are winners – they put out a winning effort every day in their own businesses. I couldn’t think of a better group to be involved with. A huge thanks to each and every one of them,” Lazare added. Now, Lazare takes some time off to reflect back on the year and start to formulate options for 2017.
